A family connection
Our great-great-great-grandmother, Anne McIntyre, was born in Tyndrum in 1772, forging a lasting link between our family and this area of Scotland. She first married a Robert Campbell, who died in 1797. Anne gave birth to Janet Campbell, who remained in Scotland when the Cairns family moved to Ontario. Anne married Thomas Cairns, who was born in Perthshire in 1774. He and Anne moved to the area around Campbelton around 1799, and our great-great-grandfather John Cairns was born there in 1799.
